ANTIQUE CHINESE QING DYNASTY 19TH CENTURY SUMMER GAUZE DRAGON ROBE WITH JADEITE ARCHER'S RING AND OFFICIAL HAT FEATHER HOLDER

The robe is meticulously decorated with woven polychrome silk and couched gold threads against midnight-blue summer gauze ground. The body and upper sleeves are decorated with celestial landscape: nine large dragons (one hidden), clouds, mountains, and waves, and li-shui pattern in gold threads; scattered with the Eight Precious Things of Buddhism, cranes and bats; the neck band and cuffs with smaller dragons, waves and clouds; the sleeve extension decorated with triple rib-pattern. A semiformal court robe for high-ranking nobility and members of the imperial household. The robe presents in superb like-new condition with minimal wear; colors remain vibrant and crisp. Accompanying the robe are two jadeite court accessories: a translucent jadeite archer’s ring and a matching cylindrical feather holder traditionally worn on the back of Qing official hats, used to secure peacock plumes signifying official rank. Jadeite items show minor natural inclusions and light surface wear consistent with age. Please contact us for more information.
