Calf-length garment with center-front opening fastened with four ball-and-loop toggle buttons, straight sleeves ending in square cuffs, slit sides. Decorated with embroidered polychrome silk and couched gold threads, the body and upper sleeves are decorated with celestial landscape: eight large dragons, clouds, mountains, and waves, and li-shui pattern against a red silk satin ground; scattered with the Eight Precious Things of Buddhism with floral motif (in forbidden sticthes), cranes and bats; the neck band and cuffs with auspicious floral patterns. This is a classic wedding robe, in its quasi-official imperial dragon imagery and festive red ground. Overall very good condition for a robe this age, with some thread pulling consistent with wear and use. Please contact us for more information.
