A finely decorated covered box (捧盒) in vibrant polychrome enamels. The domed lid is centered with a roundel featuring a long-tailed paradise flycatcher, perched among peonies and rockwork beneath stylized clouds, all rendered in rich tones of iron red, green, turquoise, and yellow. The surrounding border features alternating bands of latticework and lotus petal panels. The same lotus motif encircles the body of the box. The unglazed base bears an old collection label inscribed: “Late Ming, found in Sulawesi, bought from Cecile”, a reference to the piece’s provenance from maritime Southeast Asian trade routes. Other than a minor smooth dent at the top rim of the box body, it appears in very good condition with no other cracks or chips; some wear and surface irregularities consistent with age and handling.
