A late Ming Dynasty porcelain covered box, finely decorated in underglaze copper red with traces of cobalt blue wash. The exterior is adorned with a continuous scroll of stylized blossoms and leafy tendrils, brushed in fluid, expressive strokes around the domed form. The lid is centered with a recessed roundel featuring a crisply carved mythical beast, likely a Qilin or bixin, amid swirling clouds and floral accents. The beast is rendered in shallow relief and left unglazed, creating a striking sculptural contrast against the smooth, glazed surface. Likely produced at the Jingdezhen kilns in the 15th–16th century, used for holding cosmetics, incense, or seal paste. Good overall condition.
