The central roundel features an auspicious composition of a grasshopper (fei huang) perched among vines (teng), symbolizing the phrase “fei huang teng da (飞黄腾达）”, a wish for rapid success and rising fortune. This symbolic scene is enclosed within an eight-lobed border. The cavetto is decorated with alternating panels of precious objects, stylized floral sprays, and auspicious emblems, all rendered in vibrant cobalt blue. The reverse bears loosely drawn concentric circles and line motifs, characteristic of Kraak porcelain made for export during the Wanli period.
